Jaisalmer Desert Festival​

The Desert Festival is an annual cultural event that takes place in the city of Jaisalmer, located in the state of Rajasthan in India. The festival is typically held in the months of January or February, and it celebrates the vibrant culture of the region, particularly the traditional way of life in the desert.

The festival usually begins with a procession of camels, horses, and folk performers dressed in traditional Rajasthani attire. Visitors can witness this colorful spectacle as it winds through the streets of Jaisalmer, culminating in the opening ceremony held in the grounds of the Jaisalmer Fort.

Other events include camel races, where riders urge their camels to race as fast as possible on a specially built track. There is also a traditional game of kabaddi, where two teams try to tag each other while holding their breath.
